Couples Counseling & Individual Counseling
Whether you are in a relationship or single, your happiness and success are paramount. With more than nine years experience serving couples and individuals in a variety of capacities, I offer perspectives aimed to help couples and individuals regain trust and improve communication that can be hindered by issues of trauma, infidelity, addiction, guilt, shame, anxiety, depression, oppression, and disparity.
I believe it is important for you to work with someone who diligently works to ensure each person’s voice is heard in an unbiased and non-judgmental space. My perspective stems from my own experience with disparity, trauma, and the effects of macro- and micro-aggressions. I work to keenly guide individuals and couples in subtle but substantial ways that build upon their inherent strengths, reduce blind spots, and strengthen potential deficits so clients can meet and keep their goals. You want change, it’s time to claim and build the life and relationship you want. Together, we will work to help you (and your partner) be better connected, to experience the richness of authenticity life has to offer, and to know you and your partner can count on each other. I welcome persons who identify with LGBT, recovery, leather, BDSM, military and veteran communities, regardless to belief, faith.
I use a supportive, strength-based and active counseling and therapy techniques that draw upon a broad range of life and educational experiences. I offer free consultation to help you determine if my style is right for you. Together we will work to create the life you want, the relationship you desire, and happiness you deserve.
My Approach
Having used counseling and therapy in the past, I understand the value of a nonjudgmental environment, a safe place to explore your ideas and goals. Among a variety of techniques, such as Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy, I enjoy using mindfulness techniques and interactive feedback to help clients challenge their thoughts and shift their behaviors. But don't worry, if you aren't sure if you're ready, I know first hand what it like to be a new client unsure of where to begin. I am perfectly willing to be a sounding board, to help you consider or brainstorm a variety of options, so you may weigh the pros and cons, and decide which options or steps fit best for you. You’ve read this far, so it would seem you are motivated on some level to work through whatever challenges you.
If you want a therapist who can confidently identify or share emotions, thoughts, feelings, and concerns or desires, then consider contacting me.
About Me
My philosophical approach stems from my combined experience as a tutor, administrator, counselor, coach, and program developer: Help clients not need you. As with any endeavor to educate and improve, much like improving athleticism or preparing for exams, I believe that active participation in and out of session helps clients become successful when faced with life’s tests.
I began working in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy in 2010. While initially trained to work with children while completing my Master's degree program, my preferred clients are adults, couples, and non-binary relationships. I've trained and worked in non-profit and private practice settings. I enjoy helping couples enrich their relationship through communications skills and how to create a safe space in their home to be equally vulnerable and trusting of one another.
